The so-called "Money Pit" on Oak Island in Canada is so intricately crafted that it fills with water as soon as someone tries to dig up what's down there. However, this has not prevented people from trying. Since 1795, there has been spent more than two million dollars on this project, which so far has claimed six lives. But still, not all investors have given up and the remaining ones are still confident that they will get a good return on their money as soon as they manage to get the alleged treasure up from the hole. It has been speculated a lot on who had enough knowledge and resources to construct the Money Pit; and Earl William 1 of Caithness is the only candidate that meets all the criteria. The earl brought architects, engineers and construction workers across the sea from Scotland in 1436 to carry out this work. When the hiding place was finished five years later, parts of the Temple Order's legendary treasure were placed there, in the safe knowledge that everybody that tries to acquire the valuable items will have a really arduous and time-consuming job. After more than two hundred years, nothing but stones, coconut fibers, pieces of wood and metal, concrete particles and pieces of parchment have been brought to the surface.
