The belief that Friday the 13th brings misfortune stems from Friday, 13 October 1307, when the attack on the Temple Order was carried out. In all retrospect, people have tried to avoid the number 13 like a plague. Many buildings have no 13th floor, while some airlines skip row number 13 in their planes. As much as possible, ships traditionally didn't leave port on Fridays and on the 13th day of the month. There is even a medical condition called "triscadecaphobia", meaning "a morbid fear of anything that has to do with the number 13".
