There has never been any physical virgin birth. Instead, the Gospel editors confused different term for "young woman", "girl" and "virgin", to make it look as if Mary never had sex before the birth of Jesus. "The Holy Spirit" in this context is only a religious title that was used by Joseph. He and Mary did not wait for the "unclean" month of December to have sex, so that Jesus was conceived in June, when Mary was "a virgin", that is to say that she had entered into an engagement or a "trial marriage" with Joseph. It is also absurd to believe that she remained a virgin after Jesus' birth, because she had four other sons with Joseph. Fortunately, the attempts to introduce her as "an eternal virgin" have been revealed as "forgeries" in modern times.
