In -44, five men founded a large and complex project that intended to reform Judaism so that it became more attractive to Jews outside of Palestine and also to Gentiles. While Ananel, Heli, Hillel and Menahem concentrated on the religious aspects of the project, Herod took care of all the political and economic parts. The project was successful and the membership dues, a day's wages per person, soon channeled so big money-flows towards Palestine that Herod could use them to realize many of his magnificent building plans. The project was named "The Kingdom of God" and we therefore see that this concept is far from only spiritual, but also highly secular. The five leaders hoped that it would eventually be able to suppress the other religions of the Roman Empire. Herod had a dream that he himself or one of his descendants one day would have the opportunity to sit on the Roman throne and lead a Jewish world empire, while there at the same time were powerful forces underway to ensure that the Herods were outmaneuvered by the Messiah Bloodline before they came that far.
