Moses and his group cannot have gone southeast along the Gulf of Suez while trying to reach God's Mountain. On what is now called the Sinai Peninsula, there is too little water and too few pastures that even a few thousand people and their animals can have survived for more than a few days. The quails leaving Africa in April each year fly north; not through the current Sinai, but further east, in what is now Saudi Arabia. It must therefore be here that we find "the desert walkers" at that time.
