A steadily growing number of researchers now believe that the Biblical figure Moses is a composite of "the distorted historical memory" of Pharaoh Akenaten and his older brother Tutmoses. We also see that the religions created by Akenaten and Moses are so similar that they have to be identical. Exodus describes the power-struggle between Pharaoh Ramses 1 and Akenaten/Moses in an indirect, "mystical" way; and after Akenaten had lost it, he took his followers and fled from Egypt as "Moses". Likewise, "Aaron" is based on Pharaoh Smenkarâ, who was a cousin/foster-brother of Akenaten/Moses and not his biological brother. He was a Levite on his mother's side, but Moses was not and this explains why only the former and not also the latter had the right to hold a priestly function.
