I was born in 1961 and grew up surrounded by myths from early childhood. Along the way, I eventually understood the difference between myths, facts and hypotheses. I also learned that many people tend to confound these concepts and especially equalise "myth" with "truth". I have dedicated this site to demonstrating the differences and set things straight before I embark upon the very difficult task of navigating my ship in dangerous waters without running it aground on shoals of ignorance and wishful thinking.
I have picked Zadkiel as my username because I want to emphasise his qualities. I would like this forum to be a place where people can enjoy the freedom of thought. Nobody has the right to claim that fellow members express falsehood as long as they are polite and respectful towards other users of the forum. Benevolence means "a desire to be kind and do good things for others"; and I embrace this idea in my aim to give the public an arena to express their inner thoughts if they so wish. Mercy is also a humble property that I want to highlight, while forgiveness may seem a little out of place here. However, I foresee that some heated debates may arise from time to time; and that one in the wake of such events must be willing to start afresh with a clean slate and rise above past disagreements.
Zadkiel (Hebrew: Righteousness of God) is the Jewish archangel of freedom, benevolence, mercy and forgiveness. He was allegedly the messenger from God that prevented Abraham from sacrificing his son Isaac. Zadkiel is associated with the planet Jupiter and the colour violet. |
