The Biblical authors have made an unsuccessful attempt to identify the Patriarch Jacob's son Joseph with Yuya, an Egyptian official that lived four hundred years later. Several experts therefore believe that nothing that has been written about Joseph after his brothers threw him into a dry well should be regarded as "historically correct".
