During the Second World War, the British invented a radar system that allowed their pilots to spot planes before the human eye spotted them. So, in order to divert their enemies from finding out how they did it, they spread the rumor that eating carrots, lots of carrots, gave their pilots the ability to see in the dark. And that is how this myth started.
