Mainstream Christian theology teaches that you go to heaven if you accept Jesus as your saviour and you go to hell if you don't. But in addition, some "deviant" Christian denominations also believe that righteous people before the time of Jesus fell short of his salvation, which was unfair, according to them, so they imagine Abraham's Bosom as some kind of "holding tank" for departed souls until Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. Once the atonement was made, Abraham's Bosom was vacated and all its occupants were ushered into heaven.
They base this assumption on the parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus (Luke 16:19-31), where the poor Lazarus is carried by angels to "Abraham's Bosom" when he dies. But theologians normally claim that Abraham was already in heaven at this stage, so the entire concept falls on its own weight. Instead, most Christians now think that Moses, Abraham, David and others were forgiven for their sins in advance and went directly to the presence of God after death.
